Snowpocalypse 2018

Really Winter?

It is April 14th but apparently, winter is not finished with us yet. I am finished with winter. I was ready for spring several weeks ago. To be quite honest, if I had the money, I would drive south until I found the sun and stay there. Alas, that is not an option. Instead, I cleaned, worked on the website, and will be writing now that the other humans are asleep.

I have finished 2 rounds of editing for the first Rupert VanMouse book. The idea for the story came to me from a real mouse that is living in our van. We have only seen him once but we hear him frequently. Which is quite miraculous considering we live in Minnesota and it gets quite cold here. He must have a very warm and comfortable spot somewhere to be able to tolerate our winters. Rupert in the story is a well-behaved mouse, a neat and tidy mouse, and a reading mouse. He wants to go on adventures and he finally gets a chance when the family he lives with decides to go on a summer learning adventure. How can he go along and stay out of sight? Watch for the updates to see what is going on with the book. Things are moving along quite well and I am loving the concept drawings that I am getting from Steph Rietz!

Finding Time

One of the most challenging parts of being a mother and a writer is finding the time to write when there are so many other things that need doing. I work full time, drive the family bus around, manage social media and websites, and still find time to write. I have been able to make some changes in my schedule to make more time for writing. I am still working to find more ways to squeeze in writing time but, for now, these changes have been quite helpful. Now I am off to write some while my kids are asleep. Stay warm everyone!
